Dee Roscioli will assume the role of Wicked's legendary green girl Elphaba beginning July 21. Roscioli makes her Broadway debut after playing the role for two years in the show’s Chicago company. She replaces Nicole Parker, who took over the role on January 16, 2009.
Roscioli joins a cast currently featuring Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Tony winner Rondi Reed (Madame Morrible), P.J. Benjamin (The Wizard), Kevin Kern (Fiyero), Alex Brightman (Boq), Christy Candler (Nessarose) and Timothy Britten Parker (Dr. Dillamond).
In addition to her three years with the Chicago company of Wicked, Roscioli has appeared as Grizabella in the national tour of Cats and in the NYSF workshops of Dangerous Beauty and Behind the Limelight.
Winner of 20 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
